What does a Deaconess do at Staunton Alliance Church:
To serve by offering spiritual support as well as helping to meet the physical and emotional needs of the women of the congregation. To provide vision and administrative leadership for the women's ministries of the church, as well as to oversee the Chair of the women's ministries. The Deaconesses will communicate with the Chair to advise, plan, encourage and pray. To provide support for the ministry of the Elders and pastoral staff, especially regarding the needs of women in the church. To work together with the Elders and pastoral staff towards common goals and direction for the church. To assist the pastors with baptismal arrangements if called on. To meet monthly for prayer and oversight of the Women's ministries. To attend and present the women's ministries at the Welcome Receptions. To contact visitors and help them feel welcomed and begin building relationships with them. They function under the leadership of the pastoral staff.
